The rectangular form is created by the carton erector from carton blanks, skillets, or trays. The machinery is made to seal the pre-cut tabs and slots, preparing the carton for filling. If the flaps are pre-coated, they can also be heated to secure them.
Before loading, trays are similarly shaped and put together. Once the goods are loaded, the tray is fully made, typically sealed with film, and prepared for retail shelves.
When compared to manual labor, using a carton erector saves a significant amount of time and can be a crucial component of a productive, economical packaging process.
